MyEligible is built to respect your privacy. This page explains what data exists, where it lives, and what I do and don't do with it.

What I don't do

I don't ask for your name, email, address, phone number, or any identifying information. There are no accounts. There's no sign-up. You can use MyEligible completely anonymously.

I don't sell or share any data with third parties. I have no advertising. I don't track you across other sites.

I don't store your quiz answers on my server. Your calculations happen entirely in your browser, on your device.

Anonymous usage analytics

I count a few things so I can make the tool better and show that it helps: which life events people pick, how far they get in the quiz, and which benefits they click to apply for. These are just totals. None of it points to any one person.

No one is tracked as an individual, and no cookies are set. I don't store your IP address either: it's used for a split second to block spam, scrambled into a code that can't be turned back into your address, and then thrown away. It's never saved, never logged, and I never see it.

I also never collect your real quiz answers, so your exact age, income, and household details never leave your device. When a number is useful as a total, I keep only a broad range (for example "30 to 44" for age, or an income range, never the exact figure).

Each visit gets a random, temporary tag that exists only in your browser tab while it's open. Close the tab and it's gone for good. It's not a cookie, it's never saved to your device, and it can't be tied to you or to a later visit. Its only job is to count things like how many people who start the quiz finish it.

Don't want to be counted, even anonymously? The easiest way is to turn on "Do Not Track" in your browser. I respect it, and the quiz works exactly the same. You can also use a browser or add-on that blocks analytics, or turn off JavaScript (though the quiz works best with it on).

One more thing about my web host. MyEligible runs on Vercel. Like any host, Vercel keeps standard traffic logs (which page was visited, the browser type, and a rough location from your IP) and a simple page-view count. That's Vercel's own hosting data, separate from the counts above, and their privacy notice covers it. I don't use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, ad networks, or anything that follows you around the web.

What you should know

When you complete the quiz, your answers are stored in this browser tab's session storage so the results page can run without putting your profile in the address bar. That storage clears when you close the tab (or browser, depending on your settings).

If you open an older shared or bookmarked results link that still has an encoded profile in the URL, the site reads it once, moves it into session storage, and then removes those parameters from the address bar when possible. That encoded string is not human-readable at a glance, but it could still be decoded by someone with technical knowledge if they captured the full link before it was cleaned up.

If you use "Save results as images," the export request includes an encoded copy of your profile so the images can be generated. That request may appear in hosting logs like any other page load.

Profile-related data may still appear in:

  • Session storage for this tab until you close it
  • Your browser history if you visited a legacy link that still had encoded parameters
  • Hosting logs from my provider (Vercel), which record page URLs visited

I do not transmit your quiz answers to my servers in any other way. I don't have a database storing user profiles.

What you can do to protect your privacy

If you want maximum privacy:

  • Don't share your results URL with people you don't trust
  • Clear your browser history after using the tool if your device is shared
  • Use a private/incognito browsing window so the URL isn't saved to history

Changes to this page

If I change how MyEligible handles data, I'll update this page. I'll note significant changes at the top.
