The CGEB starts in July 2026. Current federal guidance indicates eligibility is tied to having filed your taxes and meeting the GST/HST-credit income rules.

Documents you'll need

How long it takes

There is usually no separate long application form if you are already tax-filed and eligible; updates are handled through CRA account details and tax filing.

Who gets this

Workers and families with employment income who meet Canada Workers Benefit rules on their assessed return can receive advance payments when the CRA determines they qualify. This is often roughly half of the estimated yearly benefit split across scheduled instalments.

How it's paid

The CRA pays advances by direct deposit or cheque using the banking or mailing information on your account. You do not send a separate application if you already qualify from your tax return.

  • Canada Disability Benefit for people who qualify through the Disability Tax Credit, with links to current federal amounts and the official application path on canada.ca.
  • GIS Allowance for the Survivor and CPP/QPP survivor pensions: survivor households can see GIS-style estimates plus Canada Pension Plan and Québec Pension Plan survivor streams where they apply.
  • High-performance and Paralympic athletes: Sport Canada funding (carding), Game Plan transition supports, national and provincial excellence envelopes, and Quest for Gold / Équipe Québec pathways.
