Privacy policy
Last updated: July 26, 2026
MyEligible is designed to respect your privacy. This policy explains what information exists when you use the site, where it is stored, and what MyEligible does and does not do with it.
No account required
MyEligible does not ask for your name, email, address, phone number, or any identifying information. There are no user accounts and no sign-up. You can use the benefits quiz, guides, and tools without creating a profile on MyEligible servers.
What MyEligible does not do
MyEligible does not sell or share personal information with third parties for marketing. There is no advertising on the site. MyEligible does not track you across other websites.
MyEligible does not store your quiz answers on its servers. Eligibility calculations run in your browser, on your device.
Anonymous usage analytics
MyEligible collects a small set of anonymous, aggregate counts to understand whether the service is useful and to improve it over time. Examples include which life events people select, how far they progress in the quiz, and which benefits they click to apply for. These are totals only. None of the counts identify an individual person.
No one is tracked as an individual, and no cookies are set for this analytics. MyEligible does not store your IP address for analytics: it is used briefly to block spam, converted into a code that cannot be reversed into your address, and then discarded. It is not saved, not logged for analytics, and not reviewed as personal data.
MyEligible does not send your age, income, or household size to analytics. Those values stay on your device for your results.
Each visit receives a random, temporary tag that exists only in your browser tab while it is open. Close the tab and it is gone. It is not a cookie, it is not saved to your device, and it cannot be tied to you or to a later visit. Its only purpose is to count events such as how many people who start the quiz finish it.
Do not want to be counted, even anonymously? Turn on "Do Not Track" in your browser. See the step-by-step guide for popular browsers. MyEligible respects Do Not Track, and the quiz works the same way. You can also use a browser or add-on that blocks analytics, or turn off JavaScript (though the quiz works best with it on).
MyEligible runs on Vercel. Like any host, Vercel keeps standard traffic logs (which page was visited, browser type, and a rough location from your IP) and a simple page-view count. That is Vercel hosting data, separate from the counts above, and Vercel's privacy notice covers it. MyEligible does not use Google Analytics, Mixpanel, ad networks, or cross-site tracking products.
Partners and independence
MyEligible does not sell personal information. Support from a partner or funder does not change what quiz answers are collected, how they are stored, or what is sent to analytics. Eligibility calculations and program recommendations are not influenced by partners. See the About page for the full independence statement.
Quiz answers and shared results
When you complete the quiz, your answers are stored in this browser tab's session storage so the results page can run without putting your profile in the address bar. That storage clears when you close the tab (or browser, depending on your settings).
If you open an older shared or bookmarked results link that still has an encoded profile in the URL, the site reads it once, moves it into session storage, and then removes those parameters from the address bar when possible. That encoded string is not encrypted and is not human-readable at a glance, but someone with the full link could still decode it with technical knowledge.
If you choose "Copy results link" on your results page, MyEligible builds a URL with an encoded copy of your saved profile so someone else can open the same results. Share that link only with people you trust.
If you use "Save results as images," the export request includes an encoded copy of your profile so the images can be generated. That request may appear in hosting logs like any other page load.
Profile-related data may still appear in:
- Session storage for this tab until you close it
- Your browser history if you visited a legacy link that still had encoded parameters
- Hosting logs from the provider (Vercel), which record page URLs visited
MyEligible does not transmit your quiz answers to its servers in any other way. There is no database storing user profiles.
Steps you can take
If you want maximum privacy:
- Do not share your results URL with people you do not trust
- Clear your browser history after using the tool if your device is shared
- Use a private or incognito browsing window so the URL is not saved to history
Changes to this policy
If MyEligible changes how it handles data, this page will be updated. Significant changes will be noted at the top.
