Manitoba routes safety concerns based on where the person receives care. The Protection for Persons in Care Office (PPCO) investigates abuse or neglect of adults receiving care in designated health facilities, personal care homes and other licensed health settings. PPCO does not cover private homes or general community settings. Concerns in the community or a private home: Manitoba does not publish one general reporting office for every type of adult abuse or neglect in the community. The appropriate route depends on the person's situation, the service involved and whether there is immediate danger. Call 911 in an emergency. For concerns involving Home Care, contact the person's regional health authority. Other concerns may require police, the Public Guardian and Trustee, or a program-specific protection office.

Financial capacity and intellectual disability supports

The Public Guardian and Trustee of Manitoba handles committee applications and financial decision-making when capacity is in question, it is not a general abuse reporting hotline. Community Living Disability Services (CLDS) applies when an adult with an intellectual disability receives CLDS-funded supports, not for general seniors home care concerns.
